Ravens Run, New Hope’s Visual & Performing Arts Camp is celebrating our 18th year of bringing together professional artists and students to explore the world of creativity in a supportive and inspiring environment. We offer:
- Full Program for Ages 6-14
- Young Adult Program, Ages 14-16
(Young Adults attend classes in the morning and assist teachers for one or two periods in the afternoon. Each student chooses a mentor to work on individual projects. Young Adults receive a $150 stipend.)
With approximately 100 campers and 20 staff members, Ravens Run provides an intimate and enriching camp experience. Ravens Run uses a theme-based approach in teaching the various art forms. This summer’s theme is “The Forces of Nature.” Join us as we explore the world around us, from exploding volcanoes to roaring waterfalls. We’ll especially appreciate the majestic trees, river and canal that surround our beautiful camp.
Campers are grouped by age, with 10-15 children in a typical group. Each group is led by a counselor who accompanies the group to each artist-led activity. (Younger groups also have an assistant counselor.) The camp schedule is different every day, so no two days are ever the same! Campers will participate in a sampling of all of the arts. There are six periods each day, including lunch. Art studios are all air conditioned.
Each class is led by an art teacher. Students are taught fundamental skills and concepts. Each child will work at his or her own level, no prior experience is necessary. Classes emphasize creativity as an integral part of the art process. Children will be encouraged to explore, experiment, and most importantly, have fun!
Performances and Art Exhibits
Each three-week session will culminate with an art exhibit and performance which incorporates all of the arts and is created by the campers. This is a highlight of the summer for many of our returning campers! Family and friends are invited to view and celebrate the campers’ achievements. The performance takes place on the rolling lawn behind our building, and is always a magical evening. The art show overflows with hundreds of creative expressions from our budding artists. What a great way to see what Ravens Run is all about!
